Herb S. Sobanski, Jr.
January 6, 1961 - November 2, 2019
Herb was a force of nature. He was a fighter. He saved lives. He was a conservationist. He was a friend, a husband, a father, a son and a sibling. He was all of these things and so much more. There really are no adequate words to express all of the facets that made up my husband but I loved every single one of them. To me, Herb was simply my everything.
Over the past months, I have come to know how much you all cared for him as well. I wanted to let you know how much he truly enjoyed spending time with his fellow trappers. All of it really; trapping together, talking about your adventures, new techniques, healthy debates and especially your visits to Man's Land. All of those things completed a big part of my husband and made him truly happy. For that I am thankful to each and every one of you.
Now Herb is off on another adventure in a place where trapping season never ends. You are all still here and able to carry on the many things he fought for and to continue to sustain our trapping heritage in Connecticut. I ask you to get involved and pick up where my husband left off. Be an advocate. Be an educator. Be a mentor. Get involved with the CFHA.The new board of directors is ready to continue this journey and you are needed. Make this organization live up to his dream and maybe discover your own dream along the way.
Be safe on the trap line this winter and on behalf of my husband...'May your plumes be prime and your boots stay dry'.
